Summer STEM at Home: Engineering and Coding

An introductory course to build skills in engineering and coding.

This course is designed for rising high school students participating in the STEM at Home Summer 2020 Program.

Bundle includes

  • 250 page / 25 project book, The STEAM+C Classroom: STEAM Edition by Isabel Mendiola and Peter Haydock
  • Starter Kit ( for projects 1 through 6 of the book)
  • An online course featuring projects 2 and 6 from the book.
  • Premium resources including videos, diagrams, and copy and paste code.

In this course, you will build 2  Projects. The projects are numbers 2 and 6 from The STEAM+C Classroom: STEAM Edition.

The kit includes all of the materials for an additional 4 projects from the book (projects 1, 3, 4, and 5)

The projects are designed to take you from having no experience with Arduino to working with a scientific sensor. In the course you will develop the following skills:

Introduction

A short introductory course to build skills STEAM+C skills your classroom.

In this course, you will build 6 Arduino® Projects. The projects are numbers 1, 2, 4, 6, and 16 from The STEAM+C Classroom: STEAM Edition and a project of your own design. 

The projects are designed to take you from having no experience with the UNO platform to working with a scientific sensor. In the course you will develop the following skills:

  • Digital Design
  • Coding in C/C++
  • Working with Simple Circuits
  • Engineering Design

Scientific Sensors

A course to build skills using scientific sensors and the  UNO in your classroom. This course is designed and facilitated by the curriculum authors Isabel Mendiola M.S. and Peter Haydock, M.L.I.S.

In this course, you will build 6 Arduino Projects. The projects are numbers 13, 15, 18, 19, 20, and 22 (light, color, heartbeat, pH, soil moisture, and temperature) from The STEAM+C Classroom: STEAM Edition. Resources include project videos, reference videos, reference web pages, diagrams, and photos. If you run into a jamb, the authors will video conference with you to troubleshoot your projects. Take short section quizzes to demonstrate your understanding.

The projects are designed to familiarize you with the possibilities of engineering scientific sensor using the UNO. In the course you will develop the following skills:
